Please check out our podcast interview with Dr. James Jewell, one of our clients who recently received stimulus payments on the Medicaid track.

The HITECH Stimulus Act will reimburse physicians for using a certified EMR in accordance with the meaningful use requirements. Although EMR certification criteria have not been officially selected at this time, the criteria will consist of security and privacy as well as meaningful use requirements. In order to establish meaningful use, physicians must utilize four main functions of their EMR system: computerized order entry, drug interaction checking, maintaining current problem lists, and transmissible prescriptions. If you would like more information about the meaningful use requirements, please contact us.

Physicians that meet these qualifications will be eligible to receive up to $44,000 through Medicare reimbursements. Please note that these are reimbursements. Physicians will have to purchase an EMR system and meet the requirements before they will qualify. XLEMR is priced to be attractive to small practices; a typical full-featured system can cost significantly less than the total reimbursement.

The $44,000 is broken up into payments over five years. Physicians looking to qualify for 2011 should get started as soon as possible. Although XLEMR can be implemented much faster than other EMR systems, we do not want our customers to feel rushed. Please refer to the chart below for the payment schedule.
