What is E-Prescribing?

E-prescribing is the ability to electronically send an accurate, error-free, and understandable prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point of care, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

E-prescribing is important because it improves patient care by reducing errors caused by handwritten prescriptions. As you know, doctors are famous for poor handwriting, and serious injury and death may occur if a pharmacists misreads a prescription.

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), which is part of the stimulus package, will require physicians to use electronic prescribing to qualify for the reimbursements. The stimulus package will reimburse physicians up to about $40,000 for adopting a qualified EHR.

XLEMR E-Prescribing System

We created a two-click robotic e-prescribe interfaces with the free Allscripts E-rx Now system. Traditional e-prescribing systems are clunky and slow; they may require you to enter information into a web-based system. This can often lead to duplicate data entry, slowing you down and frustrating your patients.

XLEMR E-Prescribe reduces your workload by automatically pushing your prescription information from your patients encounter form to the Allscripts E-rx Now website. You can configure our system to report drug interactions and patient medication history, or simply operate in "fire and forget" mode for maximum speed.

XLEMR E-Prescribe is the simplest, fastest e-prescribe solution available on the market today.
